Linda Townsend, the founder of Release-Well Being Center is on a mission to help others achieve their optimal state of living. She is the owner of two locations in the Boston Metro area that bring together the many facets of holistic wellness. Her dynamic wellness centers are also now home to La Peony Clothing which is curated alongside items from other sustainable and independent brands in the retail shop areas.

Release Well-Being Center's Back Bay location is an urban oasis at 28 Arlington Street. Located in the heart of Boston at Heritage On The Garden, Boston’s preeminent luxury enclave. The exclusive location is anchored by high-end designer retail boutiques including Hermès and fine dining establishments. The suburban Westborough location is an 11,000 square foot sanctuary where ancient healing wisdom meets modern wellness innovation.

We met with Linda to learn more about her partnership with La Peony Clothing and her passion for wellness.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and Release Well-Being Center.

I’m Linda Townsend, Founder of Release Well-Being Center. My background is in marketing and sales, but my personal wellness journey led me to create a space that supports whole-person well-being in a meaningful, lasting way.

Release Well-Being Center is a luxury wellness destination with locations in Boston and Westborough. Our mission is to create spaces where individuals and teams can pause, recharge, and reconnect—with themselves and with what matters most. We offer a holistic blend of experiences including therapeutic massage, skin care, wellness coaching, contrast therapy, mindfulness classes, and restorative amenities like saunas, steam rooms, and cold plunges.

What sets Release apart is our belief that wellness isn’t just about one service—it’s about integrating movement, recovery, nourishment, mindfulness, and discovery. Whether guests visit for a single service, a team retreat, or as part of a long-term membership, we meet them where they are and help them take the next step in their well-being journey.

2. LPC and Release are both businesses driven by passion and purpose. What has been the most rewarding part of building a brand that is centered around wellness and empowerment?

The most rewarding part of building a brand centered around wellness and empowerment has been witnessing transformation: seeing someone walk through our doors carrying stress or burnout, and leave feeling lighter, more connected, and more themselves.

It's incredibly fulfilling to create environments where people feel safe to slow down, reconnect with their purpose, and care for themselves in a deeper way. Empowerment, for us, means offering tools, support, and experiences that help people remember their strength, their worth, and their capacity to live well.

That’s why I’m so excited about our partnership with La Peony Clothing. Like Release, LPC is about more than just beauty—it’s about intention, confidence, and honoring the whole self. Together, we’re bringing that sense of purpose into everyday life in a tangible, elegant way.

3. How does feeling inspired in what you wear impact your mindset– especially when it comes to wellness practices like yoga, meditation, or self-care?

Absolutely—what we wear is an extension of how we show up for ourselves. Feeling confident, stylish, and comfortable in our clothing sets the tone for how we move through the world, especially in wellness practices like yoga, meditation, or self-care. When you're wearing something that feels good on your body and reflects your personal style, you're more likely to be present, grounded, and open to the experience.

In wellness, the little things matter. A soft, well-fitting piece can help you drop into stillness more easily during meditation or feel supported and strong during movement. When your outer expression is in harmony with your inner intention, you carry that energy into every interaction—with yourself and with others.

That’s why I love La Peony’s approach—it’s not just about fashion, it’s about how clothing can empower and elevate. It’s the same philosophy we hold at Release: wellness is personal, purposeful, and it begins with honoring yourself in every detail.

4. Living in Boston means an on-the-go lifestyle and a smaller closet! In what ways have you embraced sustainable fashion?

Living in Boston definitely teaches you how to be intentional—with your time, your space, and your choices. When it comes to sustainable fashion, I’ve embraced the mindset of quality over quantity. I look for pieces that are versatile, timeless, and well-made—things I feel great in, that last, and that align with my values. Brands like La Peony make it easier to feel both elegant and ethical in what I wear.

Beyond the wardrobe, mindful choices start with awareness. At Release, we often talk about the ripple effect of wellness—how small, conscious decisions add up to a more balanced, aligned life. That could mean choosing skincare with clean ingredients, supporting local makers, reducing waste, or simply pausing to ask, “Does this nourish me or the world around me?”

Ultimately, sustainability is about stewardship—of our planet, our energy, and our presence. And that begins with making space for what truly matters.

5. What are your favorite LPC wardrobe staples?

I’m loving LPC’s collection of thoughtfully crafted pieces that move with intention and comfort—perfect for the wellness lifestyle at Release. A few favorites include:

Megan Pullover Dress in White or Navy: A serene go-to—lightweight, elegant, and calming enough to support quiet moments or carry you through a busy day.

Lucy Stretch Terry Pants in Black & Lindsey V‑Neck Tee: Soft, breathable, and effortlessly chic—ideal for yoga sessions, movement classes, or lounging after a cold plunge.

These staples reflect the Release philosophy—crafted for both ease and elegance, grounding the body while elevating the spirit.

6. Both La Peony and Release Well-Being Center are rooted in promoting self-care. How do you personally define self-care?

For me, self-care is about returning to yourself. It’s not always about doing more—it’s about listening more deeply. Some days that means carving out time for a sauna and cold plunge or a quiet walk in nature. Other days, it’s setting boundaries, nourishing myself with food that feels good, or simply pausing to breathe and reset between meetings. True self-care is not indulgent—it’s foundational.

Tapping into self-love starts with compassion. I try to speak to myself the way I would to someone I care about—with encouragement, patience, and grace. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about honoring where I am and what I need, moment to moment.

My advice for other women is this: make space for your own care, even in small ways. You don’t need a perfect morning routine or an entire spa day to connect with yourself. A few intentional breaths, a garment that feels beautiful on your skin, a nourishing cup of tea—these small choices are acts of self-love. They remind you that you’re worth tending to.

And the more we tend to ourselves, the more we have to offer to the people and passions we care about.

7. If someone walks into Release Well-Being Center - what do you hope they walk away feeling– both physically and emotionally?

When someone walks into Release Well-Being Center, I hope they leave feeling a deep sense of renewal—both in body and spirit. Physically, I want them to feel lighter, more energized, and balanced, as if the tension and stress they've been carrying have gently melted away. Whether it's through a restorative massage, a calming yoga session, or simply the peaceful environment, our goal is for their body to feel cared for and rejuvenated.

Emotionally, I hope they walk away feeling seen, supported, and uplifted. In today’s fast-paced world, taking time for self-care can feel like a radical act of kindness toward oneself. I want every visitor to feel a renewed connection to themselves—a moment of calm amidst the chaos—leaving with a sense of inner peace, confidence, and self-love that carries them forward in their day and beyond.
